Scribner’s Lodge
About two hours northwest of New York is Scribner's Catskill Lodge, a perfect rural lodge to escape the city surrounded by mountains in a cozy space. And yes, there are many fireplaces. Perched high on a hill, this small 38-room hotel is completely integrated into nature.
Guy Chirico's original 1966 design has a modernist inspiration and its interior is summed up in one word: cozy. For the room furnishings, Studio Tack contacted local designers such as Fort Standard and Fern NYC. Local artists such as Emily Johnson and The Catskill Kiwi took care of the creative side of the rooms with photographs of landscapes and handwoven pendants selected by the hotel. The wood and the different cast iron fireplaces and stoves in each room evoke that warm feeling, typical of mountain refuges.
