Travelers: Lucy Folk's in Noosa, Australia

We’re heading south with creative director Lucy Folk, founder of her namesake brand, to Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. The nomadic lifestyle brand has always been heavily influenced by Lucy’s travels - each collection ignites a sense of wanderlust and a yearning for an endless summer. Below, Lucy shares her most treasured spots.

Noosa. 8 am, where to wake up?

I wake up at around 7am and by 8am I am either on the balcony surrounded by trees and birds doing pilates or in the National Park on a walk.

Where is brunch?

Brunch is at the Noosa Farmers Market on a Sunday. We usually nibble on the activated Macadamia’s grown locally while we shop. Then we either have an organic green smoothie from the Sunflower Hotel Stand or the Avo Toast from We Bake. The atmosphere is cute and local. Often there is a busker playing some nice tunes in the background.

We know you love vintage & souvenirs. Where are the hidden spots to shop?

Rockin Relics Antiques Barn in Pomona.

Any other spots only locals would know?

The Apollonian Hotel out at Boreen Point is great for a beer and their Sunday Spits are legendary!

How is Noosa  an inspiration for you as a designer?

I am inspired by nature. Its power to rejuvenate and to give space to clear the mind which allows my creativity to flow more freely. I am often daydreaming walking through the National Park, thinking about new collections and what I want to wear when I am by the beach.

Where would we find you on a day off?

Swimming at Tea Tree Bay in the National Park.

Your all time favorite restaurant for lunch?

To be honest I prefer a fresh fish lunch at home with friends and some nice chilled Natural Wine.

Best street food for a casual bite?

I love Blue Plum for lunch. It’s a hidden Japanese café/ commercial kitchen in the Industrial Estate in Noosaville. We order the freshly made handrolls, buckwheat gyoza ( dont miss their homemade chilli sauce) and their miso is the best.

Where to watch the sunset?

With a BYO nice drink at one of the points…either Little Cove, or Boiling Pot in the National Park.

Best untapped beach?

A paddle out to Old Woman Island on a calm day ensures you have the best of the coast. Turtles swimming around, an old ruin on the island, cacti and the clear blue water that surrounds your kayak.  Its 1km off shore so it’s a bit of a journey but its worth it.  A drive up to Double Island Point is good in the off season, as it can be busy in Summer. Granite Bay is always beautiful, just make sure you can negotiate the waves as they can be big!

Needing inspiration. Any art galleries, museums or inspirational place to go?

I like to head to GOMA in Brisbane when we need an art fix. There aren’t many galleries up here. Although we did a ceramics class on the wheel at CLAY which I found inspiring and challenging.

Where do we go for dinner with friends?

At the moment we are loving the sourdough Pizza from Somedays in the Noosa Junction. The chef is from Naples and the dough is just like you get in Italy :) All the ingredients are sourced locally and there is a lot of love that goes into what they do.

and for a date?

We are trying the pop up at Wasabi called Esmay for our date this weekend. The Spirit House is special too. Its a drive but is set in lush tropical gardens and you could be in Asia!

Any tourist traps to avoid?

I avoid going down Hastings Street. Although Massimo’ s for the best ice cream is a must!

The thing you miss most when you’re away?

City culture and energy

Noosa’s best kept secret?

The Tanglewood Track. It’s a wonderful walk that not so many people know.

One thing to bring back from Noosa?

A clear head
