Swedish architecture studio Claesson Koivisto Rune is behind the interior design of this beautiful oasis in Tokyo, Japan.

K5 Tokyo Hotel, is a 20-room hotel housed inside a bank building dating back to the 1920s, adjacent to the Tokyo Stock Exchange, connecting the traditional Imperial Palace area with a more modern Tokyo. The hotel is located in the heart of a fast-changing district within walking distance of Tokyo Station, the shopping districts of Nihombashi and Ginza, and the culturally hip Eastern Tokyo.

Featuring a minimalist color palette, the hotel combines Swedish style with Japanese elements harmonized in a balanced and elegant manner. The selected material palette consists of traditional materials such as concrete, cedar wood and Japanese stucco, complemented by a wide range of furniture and accessories, custom designed by the architects.

The architects take inspiration from the Japanese word "aimai" that guides the conceptual design of K5 Tokyo. As the architects explain, it means "vague, obscure, or ambiguous," which in Japanese is used in a poetic and positive sense.
